Ephesians 4:10 "He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love."
He ascended that he might fill all...
When you understand what the Bible is saying you can spot a mistake in translation without even looking up what the Greek was. When I read "all things" at the end of verse ten I knew it was wrong because Jesus ascended into heaven to be able to send His Spirit to fill all people and people aren't things. The word 'things' is supplied. It should simply say 'all'.
What did He tell the His disciples before leaving? "It is better for you that I go because I will send the Comforter and He will lead you into all truth." It was a direct reference to the Spirit.
Then what comes in verse 11? A list of some of the gifts God gives by His Spirit to His people. He gifts some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists and some pastors and teachers. Why does God do this? For the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry.
Let me get right to the point today:
No individual Christian will ever be a full representation of Jesus. God did not design for some in the church to be Super Christians. That was never His plan. The next manifestation of God's character in the earth is to be made by His body - the church. Each member (incomplete by themselves) plays whatever role Jesus gifted them - filled them - to do, and when they come together and like an orchestra each play their part the result is Divine.
There is no such thing as lone wolf Christianity. There is no such thing as any one person in the church achieving "Jesus like status". The design of God was to reproduce the likeness of His Son in His people as a united whole with each filling their unique part.
That is how the great controversy between good and evil will end. That is when Jesus will return to claim us as His own. Jesus won His "race" by carrying us and we will win ours by each doing our part to carry each other.
