16:25 "Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began 26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith— 27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen."
I wanted to include these final words because they are packed with one thing - Jesus. He is the mystery kept secret from the beginning. He is the gospel. He is the One to which all the prophetic Scriptures pointed even if the prophets themselves didn't always fully understand what they were writing.
Jesus is the One Who by His life and the laying down of it revealed the heart of God for lost humanity. Shattered forever is the distorted view of God derived from the often bloody and violent old testament. Finally in Jesus we discover it was that way because of us, not because of Him.
God's glory in His character and only through Jesus is it fully seen for only the law came through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus. It is true that Moses caught a glimpse of the heart of God and so did Abraham and Isaiah and others but for most He remained a fearful figure shrouded in awful mystery.
Jesus pulls back the curtain and removes the dark clouds. More than that He removes the curtain completely. There is no longer any condemnation. The way is open to come boldly right into the Most Holy, the very throne room of God. A place that until Jesus came was completely closed off was suddenly accessible to all.
Revelation repeats in several places that the good news is for every "nation, kindred, tongue and people". Still today we divide ourselves and erect walls but in Jesus there is no such thing. God is our Father and Christ is our brother no matter the colour of our skin or the words our mouths form. Earthly parents may have favourites but He does not. We are all equal in our need for we have all sinned and appear nothing like Him in character yet He offers to us all the same gift. We have earned death but are offered life and that life is in His Son.
We struggle even after we choose Him to live like Him but He will rescue us from ourselves and our dysfunction. How can we know for sure? Because if He is for us, who can be against us? If He did not keep from us His One and Only Son will He not also freely give us all things?
Whatever you lack He will supply. Whatever you need He will give. Whoever you are you qualify. Amen.
