Ephesians 5:3 "But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrat...h of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them."
These verses above are a warning to double minded people. People who think they can profess to be His while living lives totally contrary to Him. These verses are not speaking of the mistakes we will make as Christians still in the process of becoming His finished masterpiece. These verses are not refering to those struggling against sin but falling and failing at times like Paul describes in Romans 7.
A fornicator is one who sleeps around. A covetous person is one who desires something or someone they have no right to desire. Sandwiched between those two is an unclean person and it's all followed up with the summary of idolater. These people are spiritual players. They play the game of belonging to Jesus but all the time they are "sleeping" with the world. They covet the lusts of the world. They are two timing God without any real desire or effort to flee that life. They are two timers. They are a danger to themselves and everyone around them. If you know someone like that pray for them and do good to them but do not be partakers with them.
We live in a war zone and we cannot be on both sides. Men standing between two sides in a war do not survive.
If you find yourself double minded He is rich in mercy and infinite in love and power. Seek Him while He may be found and call on Him while He is near...
